The Allegrini family have farmed vines in the heart of Valpolicella Classico for centuries, with the estate's 120 hectares now guided by Francesco, Giovanni and Matteo Allegrini alongside their cousin Silvia, continuing the quality-first ethos set by their grandfather Giovanni and father Franco.
Amarone della Valpolicella Classico is made from 70% Corvina Veronese, 25% Rondinella and 5% Sangiovese, dried using the traditional appassimento method to concentrate sugars and flavour before a long fermentation and extended oak ageing. 2020 brought a challenging, pandemic-affected growing season, but the Allegrini vineyards were spared the worst weather and an extended harvest allowed each plot to be picked at its optimum moment, yielding fruit of excellent quality.
The result is a rich, full-bodied red with dried cherry, raisin and baking-spice character, structured tannins and a long, warming finish.
