2023 Barbera d'Alba, G.D. Vajra, Piemonte, Italy

G.D. Vajra is one of the most respected family estates in Barolo, farming high-altitude vineyards above the village of Vergne in Piemonte with a meticulous, sustainable approach that has made it a benchmark producer of the region.

This 2023 Barbera d'Alba is 100% Barbera grown on the estate's Piemonte vineyards. The season brought an early bud break, early flowering and a late harvest, with excellent diurnal shifts that developed vivid aromatics from reduced, healthy yields.

Lively purple in colour, the wine is fresh on the nose with aromas of red berries, roses and fresh plums. The palate is crisp and juicy, layered with sweet red and black cherries, warm spices and dark berries.
