2021 `Palazzo della Torre`, Allegrini, Veneto, Italy

The Allegrini family have farmed vines in the heart of Valpolicella Classico for centuries, and Palazzo della Torre is one of the estate's signature wines, named after the family's historic villa in Fumane.

The 2021 vintage is a blend of 40% Corvina Veronese, 30% Corvinone, 25% Rondinella and 5% Sangiovese. Around 30% of the fruit is dried using the appassimento method at Allegrini's Terre di Fumane facility before being blended back with the remaining conventionally fermented wine, adding richness and depth. The 2021 growing season saw a cool, delayed start followed by a short, hot late-summer stretch that brought the grapes to excellent phenolic ripeness by harvest.

The result is a generous, velvety red with ripe cherry and plum fruit, a touch of spice and a smooth, rounded finish.
