Balvenie 16 Year Old French Oak Pineau Cask Finish

The Balvenie, Dufftown, Speyside, is known for its honeyed malt house style, floor-malted barley, and its hallmark wood-finishing programme pioneered by former Malt Master David C. Stewart. This 16-year-old single malt was first matured in American oak casks, then finished in French oak casks that previously held Pineau des Charentes, a fortified wine from western France - the first release in Balvenie's French Oak series. Bottled at 47.6% ABV.

The nose opens with fragrant florals - geranium, citrus blossom and meadow grass - alongside honeyed malt. The palate brings vibrant grapefruit zest, green apple, sweet vanilla and delicate spice over toasted oak and ginger, with a long, crisp, elegantly dry finish showing lingering fruit and wine character.
