Benromach Virgin Oak Air Dried 2012

Benromach, Speyside's smallest working distillery in Forres, is known for its 'Contrasts' series, which explores how different cask and production variables shape the final spirit.

Distilled in 2012 and bottled in 2023, this limited release was matured for around a decade in virgin oak casks that were air-dried for 36 months before filling - a slower, more traditional seasoning process than kiln-drying. Bottled at 46% ABV, un-chill filtered, released as a direct comparison alongside a kiln-dried virgin oak sister release.

Nose: sweet vanilla fudge, toasted cereal and citrus blossom. Palate: smooth yet peppery, with vanilla, fresh peppermint and oak. Finish: subtle smoke lingers.
