Widely considered one of the holy grails of Nebbiolo, Vigna Rionda in Serralunga d’Alba is celebrated for producing Barolos of unmatched power, depth, and structural longevity. Massolino's flagship Riserva from this legendary site is crafted with extreme patience, undergoing an extended elevage that sees it released only in its sixth year following harvest.

In the warm and sun-drenched 2017 vintage, Massolino’s unique terroir—rich in limestone marl—retained remarkable freshness and vigor. In the glass, the wine presents a brilliant, deep garnet-ruby color. The nose is extraordinarily complex and expressive, opening with notes of sweet red cherries, raspberries, and kirsch, accented by dried rose petals, blood orange, licorice, and underlying earthy tones of forest floor and pipe tobacco. On the palate, it exhibits monumental structure: dense, fine-grained tannins and bright, precise acidity seamlessly cradle a concentrated fruit core. The finish is exceptionally long, lingering on mineral saltiness, exotic spice, and savory dried herbs.

Farmed sustainably from vines up to 50 years old and aged extendedly in large Slavonian oak casks, the 2017 Vigna Rionda Riserva is a monumental collector's bottle built to evolve gracefully in the cellar for decades.
