Laphroaig is one of Islay's most celebrated distilleries, founded in 1815 and known worldwide for its intensely peated, medicinal, maritime style - one of the most distinctive profiles in Scotch whisky.
Laphroaig 25 Year Old is the pinnacle of the distillery's cask strength range, matured for a quarter of a century in a combination of ex-bourbon barrels and Oloroso sherry butts before being bottled unfiltered at its natural cask strength - recent annual editions of this release have ranged from around 49.8% to 53.4% ABV. The extended maturation allows Laphroaig's bold, medicinal peat smoke to mellow into a sophisticated, deeply nuanced dram, while the sherry casks impart rich dried fruit, spice and depth.
