The 2025 Edition of the 12 Year Old Cask Strength is a masterclass in balance and authenticity, created from a careful combination of first, second and refill Oloroso sherry casks. Matured for 12 years on the north-eastern shores of Islay, this unpeated single malt reflects the maritime climate, clear spring water, and uncompromising spirit that define Bunnahabhain.
Inspired by the tradition of tasting straight from the cask in the distillery’s coastal warehouses, this limited annual release presents Bunnahabhain in its purest form: non-chill filtered, natural colour, and bottled at its full strength of 56.4% ABV. For 2025, Master Blender Julieann Fernandez has chosen predominantly second-fill Oloroso casks, lending subtle sherry influence and layered complexity without overwhelming the distillate.
A whisky for those who appreciate finesse over force, it shines neat or with a few drops of water to reveal its creamy, floral depths.
Tasting Notes (Bunnahabhain Distillery)

Nose: Golden raisins and apricots with toasted nuts and a light floral note.

Palate: Malty sweetness, soft oak and dried fruit with sultanas, hazelnuts and gentle spice.

Finish: Lingering oak spice and light tobacco, with a touch of sea salt and cocoa powder.
