Island Whisky

Scotland's island distilleries make some of its most distinctive whisky. Sea air, coastal warehouses and local peat give each one a sense of place: heathery smoke from Highland Park on Orkney, rich and sometimes peated malts from Tobermory and Ledaig on Mull, and the sweet, nutty style of Jura.

The islands are officially part of the Highland region, but drinkers group them together for their shared maritime character. For more smoke, head to Islay; for a full range of styles, browse all single malt whisky or our Highland Park collection.

Frequently asked questions

Is Island whisky an official Scotch whisky region?

No. Legally the islands (apart from Islay) fall within the Highland region, but they're often treated as their own style because of their coastal character.

Is Highland Park smoky?

Lightly. Highland Park uses Orkney peat, which is rich in heather, so it brings a gentle, aromatic smoke alongside honey and dried fruit rather than the heavy smoke of Islay.

What's the difference between Tobermory and Ledaig?

They come from the same distillery on Mull. Tobermory is unpeated, while Ledaig is made with heavily peated barley.

Do you deliver Island whisky to the whole UK?

Yes, with free next-day delivery on orders over £100.
