Poderi Aldo Conterno Barolo `Granbussia` 2013 75cl

Poderi Aldo Conterno is one of Barolo's most revered estates, based in Monforte d'Alba in the Langhe hills of Piedmont. Granbussia is the estate's flagship Riserva, produced only in exceptional vintages from the oldest vines within the prized Romirasco, Cicala and Colonnello crus.

The 2013 vintage — a classic, late-ripening year in Piedmont — is a blend of 100% Nebbiolo (70% Romirasco, 15% Cicala, 15% Colonnello) from vines averaging 40–50+ years old. Following extended maceration, the wine was aged for around 30 months in Slavonian oak casks and then rested further in bottle before release.

A brilliant garnet hue with brick reflections leads to an intoxicating nose of dried roses, dark cherries, leather, pipe tobacco and white truffle. The palate is commanding yet fine-grained, with ripe berry fruit, liquorice and iron-like minerality carrying through to a boundless, resonant finish.
