Lochlea is an independent, family-run farm distillery in the Lowlands of Ayrshire, founded in 2018 by Neil McGeoch on the farm where the poet Robert Burns once lived and worked. As a working farm, Lochlea's seasonal small-batch releases tie in with exactly what is happening on the land at that time of year.

Ploughing Edition is the fourth and final release in Lochlea's original annual seasonal series, reflecting the winter months when the fields are ploughed ahead of spring sowing - the icy blue label nods to the bitterly cold Ayrshire winters. It was John Campbell's first smoky whisky made outside of Laphroaig, matured in a combination of ex-Islay barrels and peated quarter casks and bottled at 46% ABV.

Palate: Boiled sweets, cooked apple and Brazil nuts, intertwined with a haze of lingering peat.

Region: Lowland  |  Style: Single Malt (Peated)  |  ABV: 46%  |  Size: 700ml  |  Cask: Ex-Islay Barrels & Peated Quarter Casks
