About this bottle

Tomatin sits high in the Monadhliath foothills south of Inverness. It was founded in 1897, and by the 1970s it was the largest malt distillery in Scotland. Today it is known as the softer side of the Highlands, thanks to a gentle, fruit-led house style built on soft water from the Allt na Frìthe burn.

The 12 Year Old is the heart of the core range and the perfect introduction to the distillery. It is matured in three cask types: traditional Scotch whisky casks, ex-bourbon barrels and ex-Spanish sherry casks. Bourbon wood gives vanilla, orchard fruit and freshness, while the sherry casks add a rounded, sweet richness. It is bottled at 43% ABV.

An easy-going, beautifully balanced everyday malt, and great value for a 12-year-old Highland single malt.

Great whisky. Proper easy drinking and very moreish. Loads of honey and vanilla straight away on the nose, very smooth with more honey, toffee on the palate. The bottle went down quicker than planned, will be back for another!
