Henschke `Hill of Grace` Eden Valley Shiraz 2021 case of 3 (75cl)

Henschke is a fifth-generation family winery based in South Australia's Eden Valley, established in 1868. Hill of Grace is the estate's most celebrated wine — a single-vineyard Shiraz sourced from historic, pre-phylloxera "Grandfathers" vines planted around 1860, and one of the world's most revered single-vineyard wines.

The 2021 release is 100% Shiraz from these ancient dry-grown vines, hand-harvested and fermented in traditional open-top fermenters with indigenous yeasts, then aged for 18 months in French (83%) and American (17%) oak hogsheads, around 20% new. Critics have hailed 2021 as an all-time classic vintage, drawing comparisons to legendary years such as 1986, 2005 and 2015.

Deep crimson-ruby with bright magenta reflections, the nose is a complex perfume of dark plum, blackberry and black cherry interwoven with Eden Valley sage, mace, panforte and graphite. The palate has breathtaking scale without heaviness, its satiny texture and cascading, featherweight tannins flowing into a remarkably persistent finish.

The 2021 Hill of Grace was rated 99 points by James Halliday, 98 points by Erin Larkin for Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, and 99 points by James Suckling.
