Produced without the addition of cooked must or sweetening, this dry fortified wine highlights the purity of carefully selected Grillo grapes and the remarkable influence of extended oak ageing.

Tasting Notes

Complex aromas of roasted almonds, hazelnuts, dried citrus peel, tobacco leaf and oak are complemented by subtle notes of sea salt, spice and dried herbs.

The palate is beautifully dry and refined with flavours of toasted walnuts, orange zest, caramelised nuts and delicate oak spice. Its crisp acidity and long mineral finish make it incredibly food-friendly and wonderfully sophisticated.

Production

Made from Grillo grapes grown in western Sicily, Florio follows traditional Marsala production methods before ageing the wine in large oak casks for many years. Unlike sweeter Marsala styles, Vergine contains no added sweetness, allowing the natural complexity developed during maturation to shine through.
