The Cask Trials comes from the Charles Gordon Collection by House of Hazelwood, the independent whisky house of the Gordon family behind Glenfiddich, Balvenie and Grant’s. This 1968 vintage highlights the family’s experimental maturation trials — a window into private experiments with wood and time, born from a period of restless innovation in which unconventional maturation techniques were tested behind closed doors.

Distilled at Girvan in 1968 and matured for 53 years in a single sherry butt, this rare grain whisky has developed an intense, resonant profile of seasoned European oak, dark manuka honey and sun-drenched stone fruits — bold, boundary-pushing and both intellectually stimulating and hedonistically rich. Bottled with an outturn of just 303 bottles.

Region: Lowland (Girvan)  |  Style: Single Grain  |  ABV: 49.2%  |  Size: 700ml  |  Cask: Single Sherry Butt

Note: Given the finite nature of this experimental stock, we will be in contact prior to dispatch to coordinate a private courier. Please allow roughly one week for your bottle to arrive.
