Tomatin sits high in the Monadhliath foothills south of Inverness. The name means 'hill of the juniper bush' in Gaelic. The distillery was founded in 1897, and by the 1970s it was the largest malt distillery in Scotland. Today it is known as the softer side of the Highlands, thanks to a gentle, fruit-led house style built on soft water from the Allt na Frìthe burn and a careful mix of bourbon, sherry and wine casks.
