2022 Meursault `Les Narvaux`, David Moret, Burgundy, France

David Moret is a micro-négociant working from a small cellar in Beaune. Without family-owned vines, he built his eponymous label from 2000 onward by buying small parcels of grapes from top growers, fermenting with indigenous yeasts and bottling without fining or filtration.

Les Narvaux is a Meursault vineyard producing structured, mineral-driven Chardonnay. David uses around 20% new oak for his Villages wines, rising to 40% for Premier and Grand Cru bottlings. The 2022 vintage followed a cold, wet winter that delayed budburst and protected the vines from spring frost, before four summer heatwaves; an early harvest brought in fruit of excellent quality with vibrant aromatics and balancing acidity.

Fruity and mineral on the nose, with citrus, orange zest and white peach, the palate is round, rich and creamy, with powerful orchard fruit and a vibrant, acid-driven finish.
