2023 Fleurie, Dominique Morel, Beaujolais, France

Dominique Morel is a family-run domaine, Domaine de Gry-Sablon, based just north of Fleurie, with a history dating back to the early 1900s. Since 1967 it has been run by winemaker Dominique Morel, whose philosophy is fruit-forward, well-coloured, rounded wines.

This Fleurie is 100% Gamay, from the granite soils that give the appellation its characteristic delicacy. 2023 was a generally warm Beaujolais vintage, with lower yields due to spring frost but a small harvest of exceptional, concentrated fruit picked from late August.

Fragrant violet and red fruit aromas lead to a palate bursting with bright fruit and supple tannins, elegant and long, with the typical delicacy of the Fleurie appellation.
