2023 Pouilly-Fumé, Domaine de Bel Air, Loire, France

Domaine de Bel Air farms Sauvignon Blanc vines in Pouilly-sur-Loire, at the eastern end of the Loire's central vineyards, on the same flinty, chalky soils that give Pouilly-Fumé its distinctive smoky minerality.

The 2023 vintage is 100% Sauvignon Blanc, hand-tended through a cool, damp winter that replenished water reserves, dry conditions through flowering and fruit set, and a warm, sunny finish to the season that delivered excellent quality fruit at a mid-September harvest.

Pale lemon in colour, the nose shows crisp citrus fruit and subtle white flowers with white peach, freshly cut grass and a touch of minerality. The palate is firm and mineral, with fine, almost salty acidity, intense lemon, flint and pear flavours, and a long finish.
