Balvenie 18 Year Old French Oak Pineau Cask Finish

The Balvenie, Dufftown, Speyside, is known for its honeyed malt house style and its hallmark wood-finishing programme. This 18-year-old expression, part of Balvenie's Stories / A Collection of Curious Casks series, spent roughly ten years in ex-bourbon and European oak before around eight years finishing in casks seasoned with Pineau des Charentes wine from the Charentes region of France. Bottled at 47.9% ABV as a limited release.

Aromas of baked pear, dried apricot and sweet grape must lead to a palate of lemon peel, fig, creamy oak and nutmeg spice, silky and well integrated. The finish is long, softly spiced, with gentle tannin and warmth - a luxurious whisky suited to special occasions.
