Blanc des Millénaires represents the absolute pinnacle of Charles Heidsieck’s winemaking art. Only the tenth release of this legendary prestige Blanc de Blancs cuvée in over 40 years, the 2017 vintage captures the purity, precision, and textured opulence of the Côte des Blancs. Unusually, for the first time since 1983, Chouilly replaces Cramant in the blend alongside Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Avize, Oger, and Premier Cru Vertus, imparting an extra dimension of warmth, generosity, and fresh charm.
In the glass, it displays a radiant pale-gold hue with fine, persistent effervescence. The nose opens with an indulgence of creamy pastry notes—toasted brioche, fresh butter, shortcrust pastry, and Bourdaloue tart—before evolving into flaked almonds, roasted hazelnuts, and delicate floral hints of violet and dried white flowers. On the palate, the wine delivers a silky, lacelike texture that seamlessly balances youthful freshness with deep complexity. A vibrant chalky minerality and a subtle touch of salinity drive a remarkably long, elegant finish.
Aged for 7 years in the house's historic 2,000-year-old chalk cellars (Crayères), the 2017 Blanc des Millénaires is an exceptional collector-grade Champagne built to age gracefully for decades.
