Relaunched to mark the bicentennial of founder Charles-Camille Heidsieck’s birth, Champagne Charlie is a prestige multi-vintage cuvée that pays homage to the legendary "Champagne Charlie" himself. Crafted under the direction of former Cellar Master Cyril Brun, this "Cellared in 2017" release breaks conventional vintage rules by utilizing an extraordinary 80% matured reserve wines (some aged on lees for up to 25 years) alongside 20% base wine from the 2016 harvest.
In the glass, it presents a luminous, pale golden robe with fine, silky effervescence. The nose unfolds with complex aromas of roasted pineapple, grapefruit, and crushed limestone, evolving into ripe stone fruits—vineyard peach and apricot—framed by delicate pastry, toasted brioche, and sweet spice notes. On the palate, the wine delivers a striking paradox of youthful freshness and rich, satiny texture. Layers of candied citrus and exotic passionfruit are balanced by vibrant acidity and a long, saline finish.
Presented in an elegant house Gift Box, this rare collector's edition highlights the ultimate art of blending and long-term lees aging.
