La Brune The Valley Chardonnay 2025

La Brune was founded by award-winning winemaker Nico Grobler and his wife Christelle in the Elgin Valley, a cool-climate region on South Africa's Cape South Coast renowned for its apple orchards and ideal Chardonnay and Pinot Noir conditions. Nico's time in Burgundy working with Bruno Lorenzon of Domaine Lorenzon informs the estate's Burgundian philosophy.

The Valley Chardonnay 2025 is made from four Burgundian clones (CY95, 96, 277 and 548), hand-harvested and spontaneously fermented, then aged in a mix of 228L and 500L Burgundian oak barrels for seven months.

Pale gold with green flecks, it offers aromas of white peach, citrus zest and almond cream, layered with hints of flint and vanilla. The palate is textured yet refined, with ripe stone fruit and lemon curd lifted by a streak of minerality, and gentle oak integration adding warmth without overwhelming the fruit's purity.
