Linkwood 13 Year Old 2013 Vintage

Linkwood distillery, founded in 1821 near Elgin in Speyside and now owned by Diageo, is prized for producing one of the most elegant and floral new-make spirits in Scotch whisky. Only a tiny fraction of its output is ever bottled as single malt, with the vast majority going into blends such as Johnnie Walker, Haig and Bell's - making independent single malt releases like this one a rare treat.

This 13 Year Old Linkwood, distilled in 2013, was matured in a carefully selected American oak hogshead and bottled at 47.3% ABV. It offers a harmonious balance of floral delicacy, abundant fruitiness and indulgent sweetness, with rich layers of orchard fruit, tropical notes and jammy preserves woven together with creamy oak influence.

Nose: Honeysuckle, blossom and wildflowers intertwined with baked apples, poached pears, ripe peaches, apricot jam, strawberry preserve and vanilla custard.
Palate: Silky orchard fruit, peach compote, pineapple and mango, with apricot preserve, floral honey, vanilla sponge, coconut cream and toasted almonds.
Finish: Medium to long, with floral honey, ripe stone fruit and warming spice fading into a delicate, fruit-laden sweetness.
