Lochlea is an independent, family-run farm distillery in the Lowlands of Ayrshire, founded in 2018 by Neil McGeoch on the farm where the poet Robert Burns once lived and worked. Barley for the whisky is grown on the surrounding 222-acre farm, and Production Director John Campbell (formerly of Laphroaig) has built a house style rooted in Lochlea's own fruit, cereal and grass character.

Dark Briar is part of Lochlea's permanent Single Estate core range, inspired by the deep colours and flavours of late-summer berries found around the farm. Matured in a combination of Pedro Ximénez, Oloroso sherry and Port casks, and bottled at 46% ABV, non-chill filtered and natural colour, it showcases a richer, darker side of Lochlea's elegant spirit.

Nose: Juicy red berries, vanilla caramel and baking spices.
Palate: Cherries, stewed plums and ginger cake, with warming tannins.
Finish: Long and rich, with velvety spice and lingering red fruit.

Region: Lowland  |  Style: Single Malt  |  ABV: 46%  |  Size: 700ml  |  Cask: PX - Oloroso Sherry - Port
