The Lakes The One Colheita Cask Finish

The Lakes Distillery, based near Bassenthwaite Lake in Cumbria, built its reputation on inventive cask finishing and a sherry-forward house style since opening in 2011. The One range showcases the distillery's blending expertise, combining The Lakes' own single malt with carefully selected Scotch whiskies.

This Colheita Cask Finish brings together The Lakes Single Malt with grain and malt Scotch whiskies drawn from the Highlands, Speyside and Islay, before finishing in rare Colheita casks. Colheita — meaning "harvest" in Portuguese — refers to a vintage port made exclusively from grapes of a single year's crop, and these rare casks lend the blend a rich, warming character. The whisky is non-chill filtered for a fuller mouthfeel, with colour derived only from the oak.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Peach cobbler, fresh apricot and a whiff of autumnal smoke.

Palate: Ripe plums, vanilla custard and warming cinnamon.

Finish: Rich and comforting.
