Pouilly-Fume is known for its distinctive smoky minerality, primarily attributed to the flinty, chalky soils found in the Loire region. The 2023 vintage from Domaine de Bel Air is a fine representation of this with its 100% Sauvignon Blanc composition. Located in Pouilly-sur-Loire, the vineyard benefits from a cool, damp winter that restored water reserves necessary for the growing season. Following this, dry conditions prevailed during flowering and fruit set, leading to a warm and sunny end of the season that facilitated a mid-September harvest of top-quality grapes.
