M de Moulin Riche Saint‑Julien 2017

'M de Moulin Riche' is the second wine of Château Moulin Riche, a Saint-Julien estate in Bordeaux's Médoc, crafted for earlier drinking than the grand vin while retaining the property's hallmark elegance.

The 2017 vintage is Cabernet Sauvignon-led, with Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, each variety fermented separately, then aged around six months in two-year-old French oak followed by a further six months in stainless steel.

Ripe black fruit — cassis and blackberry — is accented by cedar, tobacco and spice. The palate is fresh and elegant, with fine, structured tannins and a lingering, smooth finish; approachable now, with a few years of cellaring potential.
