Lochlea is an independent, family-run farm distillery in the Lowlands of Ayrshire, founded in 2018 by Neil McGeoch on the farm where the poet Robert Burns once lived and worked. As a working farm, Lochlea's seasonal small-batch releases tie in with exactly what is happening on the land at that time of year.
Ploughing Edition (Second Crop) is Lochlea's smokiest whisky to date, matured exclusively in ex-Laphroaig barrels previously used for Laphroaig 10 Year Old, giving an Islay-style peat character alongside Lochlea's signature fruit and cereal notes. It is the final bottling in the 2nd Crop series, completing the set alongside Sowing, Harvest and Fallow, and is bottled at 46% ABV, natural colour and non-chill filtered.
