Craigellachie Distillery was built in 1891 on the banks of the River Fiddich in Speyside. Its distinctive worm-tub condensers give the spirit a rich, meaty, slightly sulphury new-make character that has long been prized by blenders — and which comes through beautifully in its single malt bottlings.

The 17 Year Old is initially matured in a host of bourbon and sherry casks, married, then divided equally between fresh first-fill bourbon and sherry casks to finish, bottled at 46% ABV. Expect vanilla and exotic fruit — canned pineapple and a hint of smoky liquorice — on the nose, a lightly sweet palate of clotted cream and charred malt, and a medium-long, spicy finish with an almondy, citrus edge.
