The wine opens with an expansive bouquet of crushed rose petals, violets, and forest floor, eventually revealing deeper layers of leather and black tea. On the palate, it demonstrates a sophisticated balance between power and grace; succulent red cherry and raspberry flavors are framed by firm, velvety tannins and a distinct minerality characteristic of Verduno’s calcareous soils.
After spending two years in a combination of Slavonian and French oak, the wine has developed a persistent, savory finish marked by notes of licorice and tobacco. It is a regal Italian red that continues to evolve beautifully in the glass.
